The Dinks
We haven’t explored much beyond Boston and Cape Cod, aside from a memorable whale watching trip out of Gloucester.
Gloucester
Gloucester, located on scenic Cape Ann just 30 miles northeast of Boston, is a charming coastal city with deep maritime roots. As America’s oldest seaport, Gloucester blends rugged fishing culture with seaside beauty and small-town charm. Visitors can wander the quaint downtown filled with seafood spots, shops, and galleries, or pay tribute to the city’s seafaring legacy at the iconic Gloucester Fisherman’s Memorial. We soaked in harbor views, devoured pastrami and fresh fish sandwiches at a local spot called Mike’s, and took to the sea on a Cape Ann Whale Watch, where we spotted finback whales and a pod of dolphins. Between the rich history, incredible seafood, and up-close wildlife encounters, Gloucester delivered an unforgettable slice of classic New England.

- SEE: Visit the Gloucester Fisherman’s Memorial, stroll the vibrant harborfront, or set sail on a Cape Ann Whale Watch to spot whales and dolphins up close.
