The Same

While neither of us are huge Vegas fans, we quickly discovered that there is much more to this iconic destination than just gambling. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned Vegas enthusiast, there’s always something new and exciting to discover in the Entertainment Capital of the World! And the best part? A ton of it is FREE!

The Family opted for relaxation at the resort but did venture out a little while The Dinks delved into the vibrant and eclectic city of Vegas, Baby! Vegas! 🎲🎉

The Strip’s Neon Symphony

Let’s talk about the iconic Las Vegas Strip – a neon-lit playground where dreams come alive! Make sure to stop by the “free attractions” at each major hotel:

  • Bellagio – The iconic fountains in front of the Bellagio create a mesmerizing water and light show set to music. There is also a Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, seasonal display of breathtaking floral arrangements and installations, inside.
  • The Venetian/Palazzo: Experience a touch of Venice with indoor and outdoor gondola rides along the Grand Canal. We even enjoyed watching them go by and reminiscing about our time in Venice. Don’t miss the replica of St. Mark’s Square within the shoppes.
  • Flamingo: The heart of the resort is the Flamingo Habitat, a beautifully landscaped area featuring sparkling ponds, tumbling waterfalls, and flourishing foliage. Amidst this tropical paradise, Chilean flamingos gracefully strut and frolic, creating a captivating spectacle for guests.
  • The Mirage: The Mirage Volcano erupts nightly with a spectacular display of fire, water, and music. If you are okay dropping some money, Explore a lush garden with big cats and a habitat for Atlantic bottlenose dolphins at the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat.
  • New York-New York: A thrilling roller coaster that weaves through the architecture of a simulated New York City skyline. Don’t miss the scaled-down replica of the Brooklyn bridge, providing a picturesque backdrop.
  • Paris Las Vegas: The Eiffel Tower Experience: Offers breathtaking views of the Strip from a half-scale replica of the Eiffel Tower..
  • Luxor: The world’s most powerful beam of light, shining from the apex of the pyramid.

Culinary Extravaganza

Calling all foodies! Vegas is a culinary haven, boasting a lineup of world-class restaurants helmed by renowned chefs. From gourmet dining to quirky food trucks, your taste buds are in for a treat.

  • Buffets: Las Vegas is synonymous with extravagant buffets offering a vast selection of dishes from around the world. Buffets like Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace and Wicked Spoon at The Cosmopolitan are particularly popular. Even if you aren’t a huge buffet fan, you have to do it at least once.
  • Steakhouses: With its upscale dining scene, Las Vegas boasts numerous high-end steakhouses where you can enjoy prime cuts of beef and gourmet sides. Examples include CUT by Wolfgang Puck, SW Steakhouse at Wynn, and Gordon Ramsay Steak. The Family enjoyed Gordon Ramsay Steak but got it to go since it books up fast.
  • Seafood: Given its proximity to the West Coast, Las Vegas offers excellent seafood options. Restaurants like Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab and The Oyster Bar at Palace Station are known for their fresh seafood dishes.
  • Gourmet Burgers: Las Vegas has elevated the humble burger to an art form with gourmet burger joints like Gordon Ramsay Burger and Holsteins Shakes and Buns, offering unique and indulgent creations.
  • Asian Cuisine: You’ll find a wide array of Asian restaurants in Las Vegas, ranging from authentic Chinese, Japanese, and Korean eateries to modern fusion spots. We personally prefer the authentic vs the upscale modern.
  • Celebrity Chef Restaurants: Las Vegas is a hub for celebrity chefs who have opened flagship restaurants in the city. Enjoy fine dining experiences at restaurants by chefs like Gordon Ramsay, Emeril Lagasse, Bobby Flay, and many others.
  • Food Trucks and Street Food: Las Vegas has a growing food truck scene offering diverse cuisines from tacos and gourmet hot dogs to Hawaiian and Korean BBQ. Check out events like “First Fridays” or food truck parks around the city.
Casinos

While not huge gamblers there is something energizing about casinos. (Probably the oxygen being pumped into the rooms and the bright lights.) So why not enjoy some free drinks and a chance at a big win. Just be responsible.

Unforgettable Shows

Vegas isn’t just about gaming; it’s a stage for world-class entertainment! From spectacular shows like Cirque du Soleil to headline performances by music legends, the city knows how to put on a show that’ll leave you in awe.

Nightlife

As the sun sets, Vegas comes alive! The nightlife scene is legendary, with buzzing clubs, rooftop bars, and themed parties that keep the city pulsating till the early hours. Get ready to dance the night away! 💃🕺

The DINKs

Freemont Street, Old Vegas

Venturing into Old Vegas on Fremont Street is like stepping into a time capsule that captures the essence of the city’s bygone era. Nestled away from the iconic Strip, Fremont Street is a historic district that pulsates with vintage charm. As you stroll beneath the iconic LED canopy, a vibrant kaleidoscope of neon lights bathes the street in a timeless glow. Vintage casinos, such as the Golden Nugget and Binion’s, beckon with their classic architecture and the echoes of legendary tales. The ambiance is lively, with street performers, live music, and an electric energy that harks back to the Rat Pack days. Glittering signs, some weathered by time, tell stories of the city’s early days when Fremont Street was the heart of Las Vegas. Amid the retro coolness, the zip line overhead, and the sound of slot machines, Old Vegas on Fremont Street preserves the spirit of a city that has continually reinvented itself, paying homage to the past while embracing the excitement of the present.

UFC Headquarters

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) headquarters in Las Vegas stands as a hub for the epicenter of mixed martial arts (MMA) and combat sports. Located in the fight capital of the world, the UFC headquarters is a testament to the organization’s prominence in the sports world. As sports fan we had to ride by. Unfortunately there wasn’t any events while we were in town but the sports enthusiast in us had to still see it.

Carnaval Court at Harrah’s

An energetic outdoor party destination that brings the festive spirit of a carnival to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. We enjoyed an great afternoon live music under the tent.

The Family

Vegas isn’t just about glitz and glamour. We stopped by Vegas on a cross country trip not as much for the entertainment but a great location to stop over. Wee had free hotel stay via Caesar’s status match.

Pool Time

Caesar’s pools are a true oasis! The crystal-clear waters and chic cabanas create the perfect backdrop for relaxation or some serious fun in the sun.

Death Valley

Take a break from the Strip and explore the natural wonders nearby. We ventured farther than most and headed to Death Valley. Death Valley, known for its extremes, welcomed us with open arms – scorching heat, vast salt flats, and landscapes that seemed straight out of a sci-fi movie.

Summary

Whether you’re planning a wild weekend or more like us and planning a leisurely escape, Las Vegas is the ultimate destination for unforgettable moments and non-stop excitement.
