Red’s Eats in Wiscasset is a must-visit spot, known for their generously stuffed lobster rolls that are worth the drive from Portland.

Picking up souvenirs from a trip is something we always try to do in order to remind ourselves of the trip. Imagine bringing home a quaint lobster trap ornament, its weathered wood and nautical charm reminiscent of Maine’s bustling harbors. Alternatively, a jar of locally harvested blueberry jam embodies the state’s wild landscapes and sweet flavors, perfect for morning toast or as a thoughtful gift. For those seeking a more tactile reminder, a handcrafted lighthouse figurine captures the iconic beacons that dot Maine’s rocky shores, guiding ships through misty mornings and stormy seas. These souvenirs not only decorate your home but also spark fond memories of exploring or savoring a lobster roll by the Atlantic. From seafood festivals to art walks, the region offers a diverse array of experiences against a backdrop of stunning coastal vistas. Whether exploring historic sites, enjoying fresh seafood, or immersing oneself in cultural events, Greater Portland & Casco Bay promises memorable experiences for all visitors.

Downeast & Acadia
Downeast & Acadia in Maine is famous for its rugged coastline, picturesque fishing villages, and Acadia National Park. Acadia offers granite peaks, scenic trails, and Cadillac Mountain views. Bar Harbor is the bustling gateway with shops and seafood. Coastal towns like Lubec and Eastport feature lighthouses and maritime history. Outdoor activities abound with hiking, paddling, and beachcombing. Cultural attractions include art galleries and lobster festivals, making Downeast & Acadia a haven for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

The DINKs
Northport, ME, is a picturesque coastal town located in the heart of Maine’s MidCoast region. Steeped in New England charm, this small town offers a serene escape with its stunning views of Penobscot Bay, historic architecture, and a close-knit community that welcomes visitors with open arms. Northport’s natural beauty is undeniable—whether you’re strolling along its rocky shores, hiking through the dense, fragrant forests, or kayaking in the calm waters of the bay, the landscape here is nothing short of breathtaking.
The town is home to the historic Bayside Village, a collection of quaint cottages and homes that date back to the 19th century when it was a bustling summer retreat. Today, Bayside’s charm endures, offering a glimpse into a bygone era with its quiet streets and vintage cottages. The area is perfect for those looking to unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like watching sailboats drift by or savoring fresh lobster at a local seafood shack.
Northport is also a hub for outdoor enthusiasts. The nearby Camden Hills State Park offers miles of hiking trails with panoramic views of the coastline, while the town’s proximity to Belfast and Camden provides opportunities for exploring more of Maine’s vibrant coastal culture.
While it is a bit of a trek to Acadia NP, for us it was the perfect homebase for exploring Maine. It provided a quiet escape.

Both groups experienced the charm of Portland and the natural beauty of Acadia National Park but in uniquely different ways, showcasing Maine’s versatility.
